The audience for this blog are for families who are tired of the same and old rut. 2 summers ago, our family nights consisted of our teenager on the phone, our preteen on his tablet, our two younger daughters playing the Xbox, and my husband and I watching Netflix. We decided to start a book club, Monday-Friday, for 15 minutes each night after dinner. The first book we chose to read was Stay Out of the Basement! by R.L. Stine. We chose this book because it was the very first Goosebumps book I read as a child. I recommend this Goosebumps book to be the first book you read as a family! First, this book has unexpected twists and turns. Second, this book had just the right amount of creepiness for readers of all ages. Finally, this book is the perfect length; long enough to entertain your family for the week, but short enough to hold everyone’s attention span. So, let me ask you this. Is your family having too much screen time? Do you wish your family could spend more quality time together? How about starting a Goosebumps family book club? Beginning with R.L. Stine’s, Stay out of the Basement!

Stay Out of the Basement!

By R.L. Stine

Goosebumps Original Series Book #2

Book Summary

Dr. Brewer is doing a little plant-testing in his basement, but Margaret and Casey Brewer are worried about their Dad after seeing some of their Dad’s plants. They become suspicious of their father after he begins to develop plantlike habits. They decide to investigate further and soon realize something is terribly wrong! With no one else to turn to, they need their father to give them the answers they are looking for. If not their father, then a mad scientist!
